Pit-Dwellers, Take Notice:
Acclaimed Bestselling Author Debuts New Message

(NASHVILLE)-It takes one to know one. Or so says best selling author and Bible
teacher Beth Moore. In her new release, Get Out of That Pit: Straight Talk About
God's Deliverance (Thomas NelsonPublishers), Moore shares personal experiences with
living in pits of all kinds in order to reveal how to crawl out to freedom.

"I'm an expert on life in the pit. When it comes to pits, I guess I've lived in
every conceivable kind. I've done the tour, trading in one model for another from
childhood well into adulthood. A pit was my ever present hell in times of trouble,
and the only reason I've got the audacity to write this book is because I'm not
there anymore. I got out because something-Someone-worked for me. Trust me when I
tell you this: if I can get out, anybody can."-Beth Moore, bestselling author

Get Out of That Pit evolved from God's prompting to analyze the usage of "pit" in
Scripture. Moore says God's word showed three ways people get into pits and a couple
of ways to get out. Whether thrown in by someone else, accidentally slipped in, or
if you deliberately jumped in, she offers scripturally-based principles to overcome
any size pit.

With raw honesty, Moore talks about a few of her childhood pits caused by people
close to her, including abuse. "To be completely candid with you, I don't even
remember life before the pit. I demonstrated behavioral patterns of a victim of
abuse long before I went to kindergarten."

Assuredly, it is one of her most personal and revealing books, making it a new
favorite for her legions of fans. In it, Moore relates a poignant story about her
mother on her death bed. When she revealed in her earlier book, Breaking Free, a bit
of her story dealing with her childhood abuse, Moore's mother disapproved and
embarked on what she terms "a cold war." Although convinced her mom still loved her,
Moore never heard her say it out loud again. Until, she believes, her mom's dying
words.

Moore writes, "Was it worth it? Was it worth not just accepting the family status
quo but believing God for a better way? Was it worth being misunderstood? Is it
really possible to still treasure what you love most about your family's ways but
exercise the prerogative to dump what you don't? You bet it is." In her typical
candor, she continues, "Sometimes the biggest favor you could ever do your loved
ones is the hardest.Nobody gets the right to keep you in a pit or to shame you for
bailing. Not even your mamma."

Get Out of That Pit has a companion soundtrack featuring artists such as Amy Grant,
Steven Curtis Chapman, CeCe Winans and Travis Cottrell, plus a church simulcast,
women's conferences and appearances each Wednesday on "Life Today with James
Robison."
